ABOUT KATHERINE RYAN

My name is Katherine Ryan, I am a Journalism major at High Point University. In the summer of 2024, I went abroad for an internship and collaborated with Eastside Radio 89.7 FM. This helped me develop my Journalism and communications skills. I also have recently engaged more on my social media platforms, starting a podcast on YouTube and beginning my content-creating journey. In 2023 I worked with Vector Cutco as an assistant manager in sales. The way I developed this role was by playing my part within the company. My favorite part about working in sales is learning to develop your communication skills. With the technology that we have in today\'s world kids don\'t know how to communicate on the phone. Sales has helped me gain the confidence to branch out. The jobs I have worked in the past taught me other important life lessons. In the summer of 2021 I was a dental assistant, this job helped me learn time management. This job taught me time management because it was a full-time job over the course of summer and it was one of my first jobs. When working this job I learned how to balance sports, work, family, and friends. After working as a dental assistant that summer. In 2022 I started to work a winter job as a ski instructor and had to plan around my high school basketball schedule. Ski instructing taught me how to handle kids who are nervous, or don\'t know how to do something. It taught me how to explain to kids what skiing was, and taught me how to communicate with them. What I learned throughout my high school experience that helped prepare me for college was time management. I worked these jobs while also playing three sports basketball, lacrosse, and field hockey. And I also had to balance work around school, family, and friends.
