ABOUT KATHERINE P.
Over a decade of experience in commercialising research, venture building, and strategic leadership across healthcare, AI, and impact-driven ventures. My work focuses on bridging the gap between research and real-world application, ensuring that cutting-edge discoveries translate into meaningful health and economic outcomes. At Brighton and Sussex Medical School, I lead business development and technology transfer initiatives, working with global health partners through the FLiGHT and SiGHT programmes. This includes mapping healthtech ecosystems with LMIC partners and modelling the impact of social licensing policies, health regulations and novel payment models for my AI Masters thesis. As part of Motilent\'s founding team, I contributed to the development and commercialisation of non-invasive imaging analysis tools for gastrointestinal health, now CE-marked, FDA-approved and used globally. My focus was on developing the value proposition and positioning the company to secure significant public and private investment. I now continue to be involved as a Non-Exec Director as we’ve built out a suite of products and services and scale operations across multiple markets. As Investment Principal at Mahdavi Investments for four years, I led early-stage investments in deep-tech and AI companies, focusing on operational strategy, market validation and fundraising. Having supported two early stage ventures which went on to successful exits, I bring practical expertise in strategic operations, partnership development, and cross-sector collaboration. My experience extends to social entrepreneurship, having worked with technology start-ups across South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. I continue to mentor biotech and AI innovators through Zinc.VC and the MiGHT programme in Malawi.Currently a Fellow at One HealthTech, I am establishing the Brighton community hub to foster inclusive innovation in healthcare technology. I am actively seeking leadership, NED, trustee, and advisory or consulting opportunities in innovation strategy, technology transfer, and venture development, where I can contribute to building high-impact partnerships, securing funding, shaping translational research strategies and developing operational plans.
