ABOUT KATHERINE DITTMANN

Quality Improvement. Physiotherapist. Researcher. Knowledge-Broker. Patient Advocate. My career path has been driven by the desire to immerse myself in the experiences our “healthcare” system provides for patients, families, and healthcare providers alike. Having completed a thesis-based master’s degree prior to my professional degree, it has always been my intent to combine my clinical knowledge & experience with my academic/research interests/skills to inform quality improvement and effective healthcare solutions that include the voice of those we serve and up-to-date scientific breakthroughs. I believe we are in need of a system that \'cares for health and the human\' upstream and provides viable options for education, appropriate/accessible resources, and that values the importance of being heard, seen and connected within our own communities. My expertise includes: human care, trauma-informed care, connecting brain/body/behaviour, functional movement, neuroplasticity, connective tissue, prevention, cognitive health, community care/integration, funding models, quality improvement, stroke rehabilitation, geriatrics, fall prevention, chronic/persistent pain, supporting mild cognitive impairment, patient and family engagement, person-centered care, evidence-based practice, shared-decision making, patient/family empowerment, education and cognitive strategy use. I am a published author, certified educator, confident presenter and have experience in multi-site project management.
