ABOUT KATHERINE HESTON

Experienced administrator primarily in the field of veterinary medicine. I have been working in the Veterinary industry since 2004. I have worked in all roles from kennel assistant, reception, veterinary technician, and practice management/hospital administration over my time in the veterinary industry; working with small, large & exotic animals. I graduated from Warner University in Lakeland, FL with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 2013. I have received specific training on tracking metrics in regard to financials in the veterinary industry and feel this is one of my strongest skill sets. I have a proven track record of increasing clinic profitability through training and improving culture. Historically, my leadership has put me in \'problem\' locations as they know I possess the skill set to flip a location from both a business and cultural standpoint. I have multi-unit experience from two of my previous positions. During my time with Banfield, I managed two locations, one in St. Augustine and one in Jacksonville, while overseeing the training and hiring for a third location in Palm Coast. While working for Newberry Animal Hospital, I oversaw two of their four locations, but did the interviewing and hiring for all locations. In overseeing multiple locations at once, I was able to learn that every location is unique, and you have to be adaptive in your management style to best support each hospital. The largest location I have managed was while working for VCA in Hawaii at a clinic in which we offered both specialty and GP services. We had a staff of approximately 140 associates and 20 DVMs. My philosophy on working with animals is that it is our responsibility to advocate for pets, providing individualized, exceptional care in a compassionate manner. In addition to that, I follow the guideline of,\'People first, pets first\', in which I believe you have to ensure your team is taken care of and supported, in order to be able to provide the highest quality of care to your pets.
