I teach piano with music theory from beginner to advanced level. Ages range from 5 year olds to students to elderly in the store.From my years taking piano private instruction in University, I find what is the best teaching material and learning methods for my students by observing how they learn and their age as well as getting to know their interests.For my younger students, I speak with the parents to let them know what they are learning and how they are progressing in the lessons as we go over the material. Also to help see where the trouble spots are at and any helping points I have marked on their music to help.For my older students/early intermediate I begin to train their ear training skills and use critical thinking to see if they catch any mistakes or observe the piece more during their lessons. Have them focus on goals to improve on trouble spots as they play a piece and keep going to try their best even if they make a mistake. Spotting patterns & more techniques in their playing and in lessons.All of my students are encouraged to practice and take the process of learning one step at a time and see where the mistakes are during their lessons. I am here to help them and let them know that seeing their mistakes is part of the learning process. Don\'t be too harsh on yourself on a mistake but know as their teacher I am hear to help them learn and guide them.
