https://search.asu.edu/profile/7241Currently, Katherine is teaching Delta V studio on the design of Spaceports with a grant from HDR and in collaboration with HDR, ASU, the Global Spaceport Alliance, and the Arizona Science Center. The 5 year studio and grant cycle will focus on best practices for the architectural design and planning of Spaceports, New Space tech required buildings, sustainability and resiliency. Explorations include best workforce attractors and academic pairings to keep Spaceports viable and sustainable for communities now at the edge of Space.Katherine has taught the 3rd-year housing studio, moving to 4th-year studio focusing on Dwelling and Trauma-informed design for people experiencing homelessness. For the Shelter Studio, Katherine was awarded a grant from New Roads to study best design practices and to travel with the students to precedent projects. She also designed curriculum for the 3+ MARCH program and taught in that program for over 2 years.

Katherine is an Architect licensed in states in the Desert Southwest.Katherine practices holistic design that reflects a connection to environment, and an understanding of tectonics and materials. She is inspired by the concept that Architecture is the connection between life and place, and is therefore not necessarily confined to a site; Architects can look to current cultural practice to identify projects.Katherine draws inspiration from architects Jean Prouvé, Norman Cherner, Teddy Cruz, William McDonough, Bruce Mau, Shigeru Ban, Gotfried Semper’s Wand, and artists James Turrell and Ed Mell.Aside from architecture and design, Katherine enjoys travelling, film, learning and teaching. Her educational experiences and her design collaborations have allowed her to travel throughout the United States, Central America and Europe. Her work has allowed her to interact with some of today’s most notable and innovative professionals in her field.Wonder. Levity.
