About Katharine Perez
I am a recent graduate of the University of Iowa where I studied journalism and mass communication with a minor in English and a writing certificate. At Iowa, I served as a senior reporter and copy editor at The Daily Iowan and was a member of The New York Times Corps student mentorship program. In the past, I interned for The Seattle Times as a metro intern, Iowa Public Radio as a production assistant intern, USA TODAY as a breaking news and trends intern, and the Iowa City Press-Citizen as a general reporter. At The Daily Iowan, the independent, student-run newspaper at the University of Iowa, I also worked as a news reporter covering higher education during her freshman year and as a news editor during her sophomore year. As a senior reporter and copy editor, I covered enterprise, feature, and investigative stories for the DI. I also worked as a University of Iowa Honors Writing Fellow, a Journalism and Mass Communication student ambassador, and as a research assistant for journalism and mass communication professor David Dowling.
