As Principal Investigator, Prof Barnard-Kelly led the team to achieve the first ever diabetes psychosocial FDA Approved MDDT qualification for the INSPIRE measures.With expertise in patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) and their impact in healthcare appraisal and delivery, Prof Barnard-Kelly also specialises in providing evidence-based and theory-driven research insights for human factor assessment.Prof Barnard-Kelly has a longstanding research interest in patient engagement and quality of life. Her extensive research portfolio provides valuable insights into factors contributing to therapy choice, technology uptake and quality of life; behavioural interventions and the far reaching impact of health status on individuals and their family members. Her experience includes filling evidence gaps for regulatory submissions e.g FDA, product differentiation and promotional claims, health technology assessment, critical appraisal and evidence synthesis. Dr Barnard-Kelly is a Visiting Professor in the UK and the United States, maintaining strong academic links. She has published over 250 peer reviewed articles in high quality medical journals around the world including the New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet. As a member of several Editorial Advisory Boards, Research Advisory Boards and Industry Advisory Boards, Prof Barnard-Kelly is a key opinion leader, helping to shape the future of healthcare for people with chronic conditions and their loved ones.
