ABOUT KATHARINA NAUMANN SCHIMEK
At the moment I am working as a Senior Research Scientist and Project Manager at TissUse GmbH in the Department of Assay Development. I obtained my Diploma in Medical Biotechnology at Technische Universität Berlin (TU-Berlin), Germany in 2011, co-developing various Multi-Organ-Chip (MOC) assays implementing vasculature. I continued working with the MOC technology and completed my PhD in 2017 focusing on the development of a vascularized skin equivalent. Since then, I have been working as a project manager developing different organ models and assays for the co-culture in the Multi Organ Chip (MOC) technology at TissUse. Project Partners come from the Consumer products and Pharmaceutical industry. I am TissUse’s expert on various barrier models and chip co-cultures including lung-liver co-cultures, skin, endometrium on-a-chip cultures and vasculature. Furthermore, I am organizing Chip trainings for cooperation partners and customers and delivered lectures on international academic conferences among others in Brasil, US, Sweden, Germany. Along my carrier, I am supervising trainees and graduates of various Universities in life science engineering.
