I\'ve worked on cases relating to a very wide variety of technologies, including bioprocessing, antibody therapies, lipid nanoparticles, and gene therapy - particularly CRISPR, AAV, and ophthalmology.Notable cases at the EPO include- Roche vs four parties (EP35•••84): defence of a patent for the ground-breaking product Phesgo® in which all four oppositions were rejected by the Opposition Division and the patent maintained as granted- Genentech vs eleven parties (EP21•••02): defence of a bioprocessing patent before the Opposition in one of the longest ever EPO hearings, taking 8 days- Genentech and Novartis vs eleven parties (EP13•••76, T 99/13): defence of formulation patent for Xolair®, the Board of Appeal decision for which is now cited in both the EPO book of case law and the EPO Guidelines for Examination on the issue of added matter. Cases also include defending and opposing patents in technical fields including- bioprocessing chromatography (EP32•••64, T 900/21; EP24•••61, T 314/19) viral filtration (EP24•••58, T 1108/22); cell culture (EP32•••54, T 1136/23)- AAV gene therapy (EP26•••35)- respiratory disease therapy (EP29•••68)- cancer therapy (EP13•••32, T 975/14; EP22•••72, T 358/22)- ophthalmology retinal prosthesis (EP10•••96, T 794/08) treatment for inherited retinal degeneration choroideremia (EP26•••35)- bispecific antibodies (EP19•••81, T 1875/19; EP 21•••83, T 2589/16)- subcutaneous administration of known therapeutic antibodies (EP35•••84; EP31•••45)- bacterial transformation methods for preparing mutant libraries (EP13•••77)
