ABOUT KATE JOHN

NeuroRhythm Music Therapy Services, LLC provides exceptional music therapy services for children and adults with developmental and neurological challenges in Colorado Springs. We specialize in autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, sensory processing disorder, and other cognitive, speech/language and motor delays. We are a research-based behavioral music therapy practice, integrating Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Our approach is innovative, fun, creative, multi-sensory and research-based. We utilize a variety of techniques to best achieve functional therapeutic goals. Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music to address the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of individuals of all ages. Music therapy is an established allied healthcare profession, utilizing musical interventions to achieve functional therapeutic non-musical goals. Music therapists must complete a baccalaureate or advanced degree in music therapy from a university accredited by the American Music Therapy Association. In addition to coursework, music therapists must complete 1200 hours of clinical training, and are then eligible to sit for the national board certification exam administered by the Certification Board for Music Therapists, and earn the credential, MT-BC. Neurologic music therapy (NMT) is the therapeutic use of music to address the cognitive, sensory, and motor function of individuals with neurological diseases or disorders. Neurologic music therapy treatment techniques are based on a neuroscience model and the influence of music on functional changes in the brain and behavior. Specialties: Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), developmental disabilities, neurological disorders, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, and other cognitive, speech/language and motor delays.
