Deputy General Counsel effective February 2024. Practice Group Leader of the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice Group effective July 2019. Assist employers, insurance brokers, third-party administrators, and multiple employer arrangements with plan design and operational compliance with ERISA, health care reform mandates, and many other laws that govern employee benefit programs. Represent clients before regulatory agencies such as the U.S. Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service. Represent clients and their insurance companies in federal court in the event that an employee benefit plan is sued by a participant in a dispute over benefits. Draft and negotiate service contracts with benefit plans and third party administrators and assist clients with collective bargaining related to employee benefits. Advise employers on compliance with various labor and employment laws, including FMLA, ADA and paid family leave compliance. Drawing on my prior experience in human resources and as a labor and employment attorney, I lend a unique perspective to balancing legal compliance with business operations and advising clients where labor and employment law and employee benefits intersect.
