About Kate Robertson
I\'m an Australian-born, New York-based writer art and film historian and communications specialist. I\'m currently working as a Public Relations Account Director, managing multiple clients in the fields of art, architecture and design. I\'ve written about art, film and culture for a range of digital and print publications, including The Atlantic, i-D, Marie Claire, Vice, Senses of Cinema, and Rue Morgue. I\'ve published two books: Identity, Community and Australian Artists, 18••••14 (Bloomsbury Academic, 2019) and Trouble Every Day (Auteur/Liverpool University Press, 2021) and recently had chapters in the edited volumes Bloody Women: Women Directors of Horror (Rowman & Littlefield, 2022) and Screening the Art World (Amsterdam University Press, 2022). Recently, I’ve spoken about film at Ax Wound Film Festival, where I was also a judge, BAFTSS Horror Studies, Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, Cine-Excess, Final Girls Berlin Film Festival, Fear The Future of Horror is Female, Nightstream Film Festival, The Miskatonic Institute of Horror, Final Girls Feast Podcast and also on Your Niche is Dead. Having worked across various professions and media I have exceptional and flexible research and writing skills: I can produce sharp newsletters, edit your manuscript or proof-read your 60-page business proposal. I could write you a review, press release, speech, digital copy, film synopsis, catalogue essay, artwork label text, or very average haiku. I\'ve gained valuable hands-on experience through working in digital media since 2009. You can find my writing in a range of places, from peer-reviewed articles to pop culture criticism. As I\'m trained in visual communication, I work especially well with multi-media content. I have experience in social media account management and collaborating with designers on digital and print materials.
