ABOUT KATELYN BEATY

I am a writer, speaker, and editor with 15 years of experience in magazine, online, and book and publishing. For four years I was print managing editor of Christianity Today, where I served as the magazine\'s youngest and first female managing editor. I also cofounded the website Her.meneutics and served as editorial director of This Is Our City, a documentary article and film series hosted by CT. In my time at CT, I acquired skills in managing people and editorial schedules, copy editing, social media management, SEO strategy, public speaking, and art design. In 2022 I published the book \"Celebrities for Jesus: How Personas, Platforms, and Profits Are Hurting the Church\"(Brazos Press), named the Englewood Review of Books\' Best Book of 2022. In 2016, I also published the book \"A Woman\'s Place: A Christian Vision for Your Calling in the Office, the Home, and the World\" with Howard / Simon & Schuster.I have written on faith, politics, and culture for The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Atlantic, Religion & Politics, Religion News Service, and The Washington Post, and have spoken at the Chautauqua Institution, Princeton Theological Seminary, Q Ideas Conference, the Festival of Faith and Writing, Fordham University, the American Academy of Religion, and several churches and colleges.I currently serve as editorial director of Brazos Press, a division of Baker Publishing Group.
