About Katelin Wright
Katelin Wright is a security and immigration expert with over fourteen years of experience in homeland security, emergency management, and environmental security. She currently serves as an Adjudications Officer at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, where she designs and delivers training for Refugee and International Operations. Her international work has taken her to Kenya, Malaysia, Uganda, Tanzania, and El Salvador, supporting refugee operations and circuit rides through key training initiatives.Katelin’s expertise extends to the intersection of climate change and security. Her award-winning research on climate migration earned her the Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS) Outstanding Thesis Award and continues to shape her contributions as an educator, writer, and speaker. Following her graduation from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2020, she was selected for the Climate and Security Fellowship Program with the Center for Climate & Security, where she published work on climate-related risks and resilience. She frequently provides training and presents at universities, federal agencies, and professional forums, and serves as a recurring speaker and coach with the CHDS Emergence Program. In 2025, she launched her LLC, Kairos Climate Security, aiming to help organizations anticipate climate change-related risks and opportunities through education and research. She recently joined the Homeland Security Emergency Management faculty at Idaho State University, where she teaches a course focused on building resilient communities and developing mitigation strategies.Katelin holds an M.A. in Security Studies from NPS and a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
