About Kate Land
I am a dedicated pediatrician with expertise in pediatric medicine, parenting education, and physician communication consulting. Over my career with The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG) at Kaiser Permanente (KP), I’ve had the privilege of caring for thousands of children and supporting their families through the joys and challenges of raising them.Beyond my clinical practice, I author and edit the TPMG parenting blog, KPThrivingFamilies.org, and use social media to expand its reach and connect families with practical, evidence-based information. Previously, I served as Chief of the Department of Health Education and Promotion for the Napa-Solano Service Area, where I led initiatives to enhance patient and family engagement. My work has also included co-creating KP’s online parenting newsletters and developing user-friendly digital tools to empower families to manage their healthcare online.I also specialize in physician communication consulting, coaching physicians in patient interaction skills through one-on-one sessions, small groups, and lectures. Reflecting on how communication shapes medical care and clinical outcomes has been some of the most meaningful work of my career.Drawing on my combined experience in healthcare, education, and communication, I strive to positively influence families, improve clinical outcomes, and foster collaboration within the medical community.
