WORK HISTORY
Patient and Public Involvement Roles - Various @Nihr National Institute For Health And Care Research
Newcastle Upon Tyne, GB
Alongside my career in the civil service (Forestry Commission), I have significant voluntary experience in the area of public involvement within the health care sector. In 2022 I was successful in a highly competitive process to be selected by the NIHR to sit as a PPIE assessor for their competitive grants and fellowships and I now assess and score research grant applications in the region of ~£75-£100million. Since starting this reviewing work, I have also been recruited by Cancer Research UK (CD3 and Prevention, Early Detection and Diagnosis panels), NICE and Great Ormond Street Hospital to lead on public engagement and PPI reviewing in their funding applications. I was delighted recently to also be recruited by NHS England to sit as a Patient and Public Voice member on their infectious diseases, maternity/neonatal clinical reference group and the service user voice programme for the maternity and neonatal voice partnerships.
