Experience

  1. Director & Psychotherapist

    Critical Therapy Institute

Aug 2018 — Present · New York, NY, US

I provide sliding-scale therapy to adolescents (16+) and adults at the Critical Therapy Center, a liberation-oriented psychodynamic group practice. My practice interweaves a background in contemplative psychology and mindfulness with nearly two decades of social justice activism. I center anti-racist/anti-oppressive, LGBTQ-affirming, and intersectional feminist values in all of my work.I have extensive practice working with issues of anxiety, depression, mood disorders, chronic and invisible illnesses, substance use, trauma, and court-involvement. My work approaches individual level suffering with deep attention toward the impact of systems, power, and oppression. I also specialize in therapy for clinicians/social workers experiencing vicarious trauma, moral injury, and/or workplace trauma (eg. patient loss, or workplace violence). As part of the leadership team at Critical Therapy, I also develop clinical infrastructure for the Institute, including relevant policies and procedures, and provide clinical supervision to psychotherapists in training.
