About Kate Tucker Fahlsing
Kate Tucker Fahlsing is a pioneer of vertical short-form dramas (ReelShort) and interactive story/games (Chapters). Her background in playwriting, screenwriting, and education informs her approach to writing. In addition to being a storyteller, Kate is a business-minded creative and is Head of Studio at Elastic Heart Studios, a subset of Crazy Maple Studio. As a graduate of Northwestern University\'s MFA in Writing for the Screen + Stage program, Kate has worked on IPs from all genres: romance, blockbuster action, comedy, coming-of-age, and adventure tales, to name a few. While at Northwestern, Kate taught two screenwriting courses, was elected class representative for 20••••16, and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Kate is compelled to write about the things we cannot discuss at the dinner table, like nontraditional relationships, chronic and invisible illnesses, technology and how it is we connect to one another, the coming of age story, and 21st century femininity. Kate hails from Ann Arbor, Michigan, but was raised outdoors with a little dirt on her skin by two biologists. Kate apprenticed with Oscar-nominated screenwriter Hawk Ostby, in Vermont for three years, where she was commissioned to write a spec feature screenplay, and developed both TV and film projects. Her plays have been featured in Chicago and New York City. Her plays include: INDIAN RIVER, ACROSS THE PARK, HERPES, DUCKS UNLIMITED, SLEEP NUMBER, and PLAN B. She’s also written and performed Off-Off Broadway. Kate was a top ten finalist for the Playwrights’ Center Core Apprentice Program 2016-17. Kate’s play, ACROSS THE PARK, received a showcase production Off-Broadway in October 2016 through The Araca Project at the American Theatre of Actors and was a semi-finalist for the Eugene O\'Neill National Playwrights Conference 2017.
