   Midwest Innocence Project

   As a Social Work Intern at the Midwest Innocence Project, I support individuals who have been wrongfully convicted by providing trauma-informed care and assisting with their reintegration into society. My responsibilities include conducting client assessments to identify social, emotional, and practical needs, connecting exonerees with critical resources such as housing, employment, and mental health services, and advocating on their behalf with community partners. I work closely with attorneys and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a holistic approach to client care, contribute to resource development, and maintain accurate documentation while adhering to ethical standards. Additionally, I assist in program development and outreach efforts, raising awareness of the unique challenges faced by exonerees and advocating for systemic reforms. This role allows me to blend social work principles with criminal justice advocacy, providing meaningful support to those navigating the aftermath of wrongful convictions.
