About Kate Pett
Kate has led nonprofit organizations for more than twenty years, using research to design innovative solutions to challenging social problems. Kate inspires teams to thoughtfully implement new approaches that are sustainable and effective. Collaboration with a diversity of stakeholders and continuous learning are cornerstones of Kate\'s work.Kate co-founded Thrive Asheville to bring together diverse thinkers and doers from the community to learn about the city\'s challenges, identify solutions, and act together to implement new approaches. Within five years, Thrive has been awarded highly competitive funding to expand our approach to capturing affordable housing for low-wealth families. Thrive is leading a collective impact effort to align agencies that seek to house vulnerable populations, and develop a more collaborative housing ecosystem.Kate led the Asheville City Schools Foundation for more than a decade, emerging as a thought-leader on education and equity in the City of Asheville. She dramatically increased the organization\'s resources, redesigned the approach grant-making, and developed large-scale collaborations that engaged the community in serving students with the greatest needs.In previous positions, Kate served communities, families, and students directly as a Peace Corps Volunteer, family resource center director, and classroom teacher.
