ABOUT KATE PAYNE
I have been working in Pensions for longer than I care to mention now. I have recently been involved in a number of scheme restructures whether straightforward mergers or transferring the DC Section in a hybrid scheme to a master trust. I do have clients with schemes still open to accrual but have also worked both trustee and employer side on liability management exercises including ultimately closure to accrual to help manage pension liabilities. I am particularly interested in helping trustees and employers to understand the strict the legal entitlements of the scheme and compare them against administrative practice which is vital if buy out is on the medium to short term horizon. I also have another string to my bow which is an interest in public sector schemes. This started when I was involved in advising central government on an outsourcing project that resulted in the first private sector provider participating in the Civil Service Pension Scheme. Kate Payne is ranked in The Legal 500 UK 2021 as a ‘Leading Individual’ for Pensions (Leeds).
