Manage, direct, and execute a comprehensive external affairs program to build understanding, trust, and support of TNC\'s mission and work on the ground in Oregon.• Oversee the policy team’s development and execution of advocacy plans and direct grassroots and grasstops messaging, media outreach, and policy communications. • Work with conservation strategy leads to develop, implement, and manage external affairs plans (including media relations and social / digital media) in support of priority conservation initiatives.• Serve on the Executive Leadership Team of the Oregon Business Unit, collaborate and co-create with colleagues, the Board of Trustees, and staff to ensure achievement of the business unit’s strategic plan.• Drive an inclusive, just, and equitable communications narrative and storytelling including in message development, implementing communications and marketing strategies/plans, and related contracting.• Serve as primary spokesperson and media liaison and develop and maintain good working relationships with Oregon based media outlets.• Build and maintain relationships to expand the influence of TNC narratives and drive policy and conservation outcomes in Oregon. • Supervise the staff who execute external affairs in Oregon, including communications and marketing, community outreach and government relations teams. • Serve as primary liaison between the business unit and Western, North America and Global TNC communications and marketing teams. • Provide consultation, media training, and coaching and talking points to staff and trustees serving as spokespersons.
