ABOUT KATE MORTON
I’m a calm and patient public health leader grounded in a lifelong commitment to service. From my early experience as an AmeriCorps member to my current work in clinical and community health, I’ve always believed that meaningful change starts with listening, collaboration, and meeting people where they are.As one of the first pharmacists in New Mexico to prescribe medications for opioid use disorder, I’ve dedicated my career to expanding access to life-saving treatment and strengthening care for communities impacted by substance use, HIV, and structural inequities. My service-first mindset continues to shape the way I lead: creating safe, joyful, and supportive environments for teams, partnering authentically with communities, and designing programs that advance health equity. In 2025, I was honored to be selected as a Presidential Leadership Scholar, an experience that deepened my ability to lead cross-sector collaborations and drive public health solutions that improve population health and close gaps in care. I am committed to advancing harm reduction, community health, and service-oriented leadership that uplifts both patients and the people who care for them.
