In this role I provide detailed advice and guidance on development proposals in a range of different contexts and assess their impact on heritage assets in accordance with the NPPF and local policy and guidance, culminating in the production of Heritage Impact Assessments in support of planning and listed building consent applications. In 2016 I relocated to Manchester to head up the company\'s new office offering both Historic Buildings Consultancy and Architectural Services.Clients include the Grosvenor Estate, the Crown Estate, National Museums Liverpool, the Royal Opera House, Stockport Borough Council and Cheshire East. Specific skills and aspects of the role include- Extensive experience of urban conservation planning, including grade I and II* listed buildings and major/ controversial new development in highly sensitive historic settings- Comprehensive experience of rural conservation planning including country houses, residential buildings, agricultural conversions, conservation areas and churches- A creative and constructive approach to building conservation, providing specialist advice to clients from initial concept stages through to planning submission and post-planning design development- Full understanding of law and policy and representing clients at informal hearings and planning enquiries- Excellent relations with Local Planning Authority officers an Historic England- Full membership of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation.

In this role I dealt with numerous redevelopment schemes in the historic environment, providing guidance from pre-application through to application and for presentation at planning committee. At Donald Insalls I provide detailed advice and guidance on development proposals in a range of different contexts - assessing the impact heritage assets in accordance with the NPPF and local policy and guidance. I now lead our Manchester studio and the northern heritage consultancy team.
