About Kate Flanagan

I\'m a Senior at the University of Richmond studying Mathematical Economics and Sustainability. Through my coursework and experience, I’ve developed a passion for building a sustainable future for both people and the planet.During my time at UR, I’ve worked in both the energy and environmental sectors of sustainability. In the summer of ‘24, I spent 2 months as part of a Weatherization team where I helped households lower their utility costs by installing energy-efficient measures.This past summer, I was the first to fill and help shape a new summer intern program for the UR Office for Sustainability. I worked closely with both the Sustainability and Facilities teams to further the development of the campus Strategic Energy Management plan and the new UR Orchard & Food Forest. I continued my internship into the Fall where managed the Babylon Micro-Farm and helped lead volunteer events in the Eco-Corridor. Upon graduation, I want to continue to help people navigate the path toward a healthy, sustainable future for all generations.
