    Providing management and leadership direction for the Science Policy Unit and department-wide environmental programs, including Climate Change Research, Adaptation, and Mitigation; Threatened/Endangered Species Habitat Protection and Mitigation; Aquatic Invasive Species risk reduction; as well as implementation of the Cedar River HCP and South Fork Tolt Hydro Project FERC license. Managing a budget of approximately $7 million and a team of scientists in the Science Policy Unit conducting high-profile research and advising the utility and stakeholders on matters relating to climate adaptation science, greenhouse gas emission reduction/mitigation, fish protection, and habitat restoration. Responsible for the generation of significant revenue for the ESA Lands program by successfully securing grants and matching funds for salmon habitat acquisition/restoration. Tracking new science/environmental issues/policies, assessing their potential impact on meeting City Light environmental priorities, and developing/promoting/implementing strategies to resolve them to the City Light General Manager and Executive Team, as well as the Mayor’s Office and City Council. Serving as the U.S. Secretariat for the Skagit Environmental Endowment Commission established under the US/Canada High Ross Treaty to ensure that US Treaty and City of Seattle obligations under the Treaty are met.
