ABOUT KATE DILWORTH

In 2010 I pitched up at the newly opened Right at Home Preston, attracted by the thought of supporting older people with their independence during a career break from journalism, while my kids were young.I had no understanding of franchising back then, and was unaware that the business was a UK pilot - I just loved the way Right at Home\'s model focused on person-centred outcomes and had a great time helping my clients to live their best lives! As the scale of Ken Deary\'s ambitions for Right at Home UK became clear, I knew I wanted in. And as I learned more about franchising and started to work more within the wonderful franchise community - populated by brand from many different sectors as well as lawyers, lenders, advisors and media - I realised that my new career had found me.15 years down the line and my role as Associate Director for Network Development brings together two industries that I remain very passionate about - quality homecare, and business format franchising.I feel privileged to accompany our Franchise Owners through the entire life-cycle of business ownership - from early evaluations and their business start-up, through their growth and expansions, challenges and opportunities; to the renewal of their franchise agreements and their eventual exit strategies and resales. As all the owners in our network are recruited for their values, work ethic and leadership skills, they all tend to be pretty amazing people, as are the team I work with in the Right at Home UK national office; this is a massive part of why I love my job. I still get a huge buzz from meeting people who are committed to quality care, and want to build a business that makes a real difference in their local community. It’s great to support them to turn their dreams into reality and to then hear about the incredible impact they have on people’s lives – not just their Clients, but family members and their care teams too.I am very proud of the reputation Right at Home has built, the many people whose independence has been enriched, the careers that have been launched and the many happy memories made. And I\'m enthused at what lies ahead, in a sector where technology will never fully replace the human touch but does promise to open many new doors.
