About Kate Bustamante

Kate Bustamante is an award-winning queer Latinx creative executive. She is currently the Senior Manager of Original Documentaries at Hulu where she supports the development, production and acquisition of Hulu’s award-winning Original Documentaries and Limited Series. In her seven years at Hulu, Kate has been integral to building Hulu’s documentary slate, with a special focus on underrepresented stories and voices, especially those from the LGBTQ+ community. She was key to the execution of Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan & Sara and the acquisition of Changing the Game to the streamer, which won a GLAAD Award for Best Documentary Film and was Peabody and Emmy-nominated. She was also the point exec on series Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne, which joins queer, genderfluid Cara on an exploration of sexuality and gender around the world. Over the last 3 years she has managed the Hulu Original Documentaries development DEI initiatives, including the Firelight Hulu Kindling Fund, Hulu Accelerator within the Kartemquin Films Diverse Voices program, and the If/Then program, sourcing content from early-career filmmakers from underrepresented groups. Apart from her more mission-driven work, Kate also has worked on titles such as The Perfect Wife, The Contestant, God Forbid, The Curse of Von Dutch, Look at Me: Victoria’s Secret: Angels and Demons and Captive Audience. She also manages Hulu\'s development slate, sourcing and developing ideas from the ground up for the Hulu documentary team, working with best-in-class filmmakers to come up with new projects. Kate started her career in documentary and unscripted at Paradigm Talent Agency.
