ABOUT KATE BLACKLOCK

A passionate sustainability specialist, Kate has accumulated significant practical experience in natural resource and infrastructure projects working on environmental and social impact and development with private sector companies. Working to environmental and social lender standards, she has over twenty years of professional experience on international projects directly with businesses or consulting to projects or financial institutions to manage their risks, impacts and interactions with people and the environment. Projects she has worked on have been in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe and she has lived and worked in various countries in Africa for over eight years. With a specialist focus on social performance, stakeholder engagement and human rights, her areas of expertise are:• IFC Performance Standards; EBRD Requirements, Equator Principles, OECD Guidelines, UNGPs • Environmental, social and human rights impact and risk analysis, due diligence and compliance reporting• Community health safety and security• Labour and working conditions• Preparing for land acquisition and involuntary resettlement (with a specialist focus on access to natural resources)• ASM supply chain due diligence• Sustainable supply chain assessment (agricultural goods and project procurement goods)• Cultural heritage• Stakeholder engagement planning and implementation, Grievance Redress Mechanisms, dispute resolution and conflict mediation• Ecosystem services review• Conflict and security analysis, governance and anti-corruption• Planning for regional socio economic development, community development and strategic social investment, local content opportunities and commitments • Institutional strengthening of NGOs, and CBOs.
