About Kate Riley

Over my career and my life, I have had the opportunity to live and work with the Indigenous peoples of Latin America- across Mexico, Guatemala, and Peru. I have a technical background in environmental engineering with a focus on water resources. Like so many of us, I fell in love with Latin America, and at the same time recognized how F#%^ed the whole planet is, if places like the Sacred Headwaters in the Amazon start to fall, or as the new \'Tren Maya\' that is coming into villages across the Yucatan peninsula, connecting until now the most hard-to reach and sacred ruins and ancestral lands. There is not enough water for the Mayan people- let alone for the tourists! That is what led me to form a 501c3 with a group of friends (over covid!), called EverVillage. We focus on funding and supporting Indigenous green infrastructure projects in Latin America- especially those areas that will be facing severe climate impacts and forced migration into the near future. But over the last decade, I have been focusing more of my full-time work with the Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest, in my role as the Development Director at the Na\'ah Illahee Fund (=\'Mother Earth\' in Chinook wawa). I am a firm believer in the power to transform with and within the world of philanthropy. I am based in Seattle, WA, USA.
