Verite Foundation is dedicated to providing access to opportunity to entrepreneurs who are traditionally underserved and underrepresented. Our inaugural initiative is building Business Elevators in disinvested communities—starting in cities with metro populations of at least We provide a developed nonprofit business model and work with local partners to adapt the model to reflect their unique space, the needs and culture of their community, and lead ongoing operations.What is a Business Elevator?Business Elevators are a comprehensive economic development and community revitalization program that combines elements of traditional business accelerators and business incubators with a vibrant third space for the community. Elevators create a unique place where entrepreneurs can find the support they need to start and sustain brick-and-mortar businesses with programs based on the Four Pillars Framework developed by Neighborhood Development Center of Minneapolis—(1) foundational business training,(2) access to capital,(3) access to real estate, and (4) ongoing technical assistance. We equip entrepreneurs with the info and access they need to rise above barriers and take their businesses to the next level.Each Verite City Market is a vibrant community third space, featuring local food and retail businesses, event areas, a bar and other community amenities—to foster economic and community resilience all in one place.
