ABOUT KATARINA BIRKIC

Lover of art and architectural design, Katarina Birkic joined the design scene in 2005, while still completing her diploma in Interior Design at Humber College.Ms. Birkic got her feet wet on the RBC Centre project as one of the lead designers in designing spaces for employees over 28 floors. A key accomplishment was collaborating on the development of the RBC Agile Workplace, which is a concept centered around empowering employees to work in different work settings in order to boost productivity, innovation, and collaboration. The building achieved LEED Gold building and has been named \"Toronto\'s Most Environmentally Friendly Office Tower.\" Drawing on her success and experience at RBC Centre, Ms. Birkic took a position as lead workplace strategy and design at Deloitte to develop their Office of the Future. Deloitte was interested in pushing the mobility envelope further and challenged Ms. Birkic to design a space that would support their employees (including executives) in an unassigned seating environment. Ms. Birkic is currently the Director of workplace solutions at Infrastructure Ontario. She leads a team of workplace specialists who take their clients real estate objectives and develop design solutions to achieve their organizational goals. The team takes a holistic approach when designing client’s spaces by integrating change management tools to ensure employees are successful in their transition to the new environment.In her spare time, Ms. Birkic is a prolific painter and draws inspirations from nature and her travels. Many of the paintings hanging in her home are originals and she has been commissioned by friends to create art that reflects their personal style and enhances their interior spaces.Profile written by Toni Giordano
