Ah, the journey of becoming a chartered accountant has been quite a whirlwind. Working as an articled assistant in the audit and assurance services department of a respected chartered accountancy firm has been nothing short of enlightening.From day one, I immersed myself in a world where critical thinking and financial analysis are paramount. One of my significant assignments involved the adoption of IND AS for an NBFC (ICC), a complex endeavor that required meticulous attention to ensure seamless compliance with accounting standards.But it wasn’t just about standards; it was about strategy too. I had the opportunity to assist in optimizing tax strategies for a listed client, navigating the intricacies of tax laws to secure special deductions and maximize financial benefits. It was incredibly rewarding to see how strategic planning within the framework of tax laws can make a tangible difference for businesses.My role extended beyond theory; I was hands-on in conducting limited reviews and finalizing accounts across diverse sectors—from real estate and merchant banking to insurance broking, wealth management, and even manufacturing extruded seamless plastic tubes. Each sector presented its own set of challenges, keeping me constantly engaged and learning.Tax audits were another significant part of my experience. Whether it was financial intermediaries, the aviation industry, manufacturers, or the dynamic digital entertainment sector, conducting thorough audits to ensure compliance was both rigorous and enlightening.I also delved into the regulatory side of things, being involved in various certifications and RBI filings for NBFCs. This experience deepened my understanding of regulatory frameworks and the importance of meticulous compliance.Every day brought new insights and challenges, and I thrived on the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the financial landscape. Now, as a qualified chartered accountant, I look forward to further honing my skills, gaining more experience, and making a real impact in the field.
