ABOUT KASSANDRA GERVASI

I am a political science researcher and emerging policy professional interested in the intersection of climate security, public policy, global governance, and institutional decision-making.I recently completed an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the Université de Montréal, and I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts (thesis) in Political Science at McGill University. My research examines how public institutions adapt to complex policy challenges, particularly in the areas of defence policy, climate security, and civil–military relations.Over the past several years, I have developed a multidisciplinary professional path that combines policy research, financial services, and public engagement. My experience ranges from working in finance at RBC Wealth Management to contributing to political data analysis projects with CLESSN’s Datagotchi initiative, where I worked on survey analysis and the interpretation of electoral behavior during the 2024 U.S. election cycle. These experiences strengthened my skills in research design, data analysis, strategic communication, and project management, while reinforcing my interest in how institutions design and implement public policy.Alongside my academic work, I contribute to initiatives examining the relationship between security, environmental governance, and emerging global challenges. This includes research and outreach activities with the NATO Climate Change and Security Centre of Excellence (CCASCOE) and Environment and Climate Change Canada engagement also remains central to my work. I am a Unit Leader with the 115th Montreal Embers of Girl Guides Canada, serve on the organizing committee for the 2026 Relais pour la vie Rive-Nord, and work with Civil Protection Youth Canada (CPYC) as a researcher and team leader supporting initiatives that promote climate resilience among youth across Canada.More broadly, I am motivated by questions about how institutions can better serve citizens, strengthen democratic governance, and respond to evolving societal challenges.Outside of my professional and academic work, I am an avid marathon runner and cat lover, and I enjoy exploring new ideas and challenges at the intersection of policy, environment, and defence.
