Director, Medical Staff Services @Saint Joseph Health System (Indiana)

Responsibilities: Promoted to Director and added Plymouth Medical Staff Services accountability. Report to the Regional Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs. Responsible for 24-hour operation of Medical Staff Services including the Medical Staff Offices of Mishawaka Medical Center and Plymouth Medical Center and Continuing Medical Education Department. Seen as a trusted resource and mentor to the Medical Staff Services team, physicians, medical staff officers, administration, nursing leaders care and Board members. Maintain a team of competent staff to assure compliance with all accrediting and licensing bodies including The Joint Commission, CMS, Indiana State Department of Health and Indiana State Medical Association. Direct the local processes of credentialing, ongoing expirables, privileging, recredentialing, Focused Professional Practice Evaluation and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation for all credentialed physicians and providers. Meeting management and facilitation including successfully transitioning during Covid to Webex and Microsoft Teams online meetings to meet the need of continued work. Fiscal responsibility includes the hospital budgets as well as the medical staff funds accounts. Continuously develop and enforce internal policies and procedures. Develop, monitor and measure efficiency and productivity standards through Rapid Improvement Events and Performance Improvement Initiatives with the most recent priority of Focused Professional Practice Evaluation. Develop goals for our team to support the organization’s strategic plan. Advise on the development and adherence of Medical Staff Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and policy review and recommendations in compliance with TJC, CMS and ISDOH. Our CME department was recognized at its last accreditation with commendation from ISMA. with 6-year accreditation term.
