ABOUT KARUN VERMA

Karun Verma is Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Thapar University, Patiala. He received his B. Tech. degree in CSE from PTU, Jalandhar, in 2001, and M.E. degree in CSE (IT) from the Punjab University, Chandigarh, in 2004. He is currently pursuing Ph. D. in the area of Handwriting recognition of online Gurumukhi Script. His research interests include soft computing and Natural Language Processing and guided 18 Master thesis in the areas. He has more than nine years of teaching experience. He has taught various core subjects at graduate and undergraduate levels and is guiding post graduate students. He provides consultancy in the area of software development and technical education. He has published various 8 research papers in reputed journals and around 13 in reputed national and international conferences. He has conducted various courses on Microsoft, Oracle, and Java technologies for students. He has also worked as team member in organizing various conference and staff development programme in the university. In 2006, he worked as Joint Secretary for organizing national conference on Frontiers in Advance Computational Mathematics organized at Thapar University. He also worked as Organizing Secretary in organizing International Advance Computing Conference twice in 2009 and 2010. He worked as a member in implementation of E-governance in Thapar University, Patiala. He has implemented various software projects in the University, including academic work and examination work.
