Founder and collaborator in world and Indian fusion ensembles exploring music across cultures.Over the years, I’ve been part of several collaborative projects that blend Indian classical, folk, and world music. Each has shaped my sound and deepened my belief that music grows richer through shared dialogue and experimentation.Key Collaborations:• Kartikeya & Makrand Live (2022 – Present): World-music duo performing across India and abroad — Ruh Sanat Festival (Kyrgyzstan 2025), India Couture Week (2024), Jaipur Literature Festival (2024), Mahindra Kabira Festival (2023).• Trippy Sama (2014 – Present): Experimental world-music project combining Indian flute, percussion, and ambient textures.• Saazkaar (2025 – Present): Ensemble rooted in Indian folk and classical traditions with minimalist instrumentation.• World Music Ensemble (2019 – 2024): Collective exploring rhythm and improvisation — Great Indian Holi Festival 2024, The Lil Flea Mumbai 2023.• Narang Ensemble (2021): Seasonal collaboration for The Great Indian Film and Literature Festival (Bhopal).These projects reflect my journey as a flautist and composer who thrives on connection — bringing together cultures, instruments, and ideas to create soundscapes that feel both ancient and new.

ABOUT KARTIKEYA VASHIST
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I began learning and performing when I was 10 years old, and the flute soon became my voice — a way to express what I often couldn’t put into words.My journey started with Indian classical music, learned through the Guru–Shishya Parampara. I’ve been blessed to study under wonderful teachers and inspirations, including Sri Sujit Mondal, Tagaram Bheel, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Sameer Rao, and Dr. L. Shenkar. Their guidance shaped not just my playing, but my understanding of what it means to listen, to practice, and to share music with humility.Over the years, my sound has evolved — drawing from folk traditions, world music, and personal experiences. I enjoy finding spaces where the old and new meet naturally — where a raga can flow into a global rhythm and still hold its soul.I perform both solo and with ensembles, and my work includes background scores and cross-cultural collaborations. I also enjoy conducting workshops and lessons, especially for young musicians discovering the flute for the first time — their curiosity keeps my own learning alive.For me, music isn’t just performance — it’s a conversation. Between breath and silence, between cultures, and between people. Always open to collaborations, creative projects, and musical journeys that bridge tradition and new expression.
