As the Feddersen Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, I have over 15 years of experience in creating and leading innovative research projects at the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI) and artificial intelligence (AI). I am passionate about making the \"computer-as-a-partner\" to extend human capabilities beyond what is possible today, using state-of-the-art technologies such as extended reality integrated with AI, authoring for XR, geometric deep learning, computer vision for authoring and interaction of humans with the environment, skill training and learning, LLM integration with spatial interfaces for design and fabrication, collaborative intelligence, and personalized robotics platforms.I am also the CoFounder and Chief Scientist of ZeroUI, a startup that has a simple but powerful mission: Make everyone a roboticist. This technology democratizes creativity and empowers users to design and fabricate their own smart robotic toys and learn concepts in maths and physics through virtual robotic programming and games. I also help students learn using toy design as a platform for both design, fabrication, and making computer interfaces more accessible. I aim to create new kinds of interactive environments and experiences that enhance learning, expression, and collaboration.
