My most recent work focused on analyzing the Arctic policies of various countries and providing strategic insights to the department on issues related to managing the Arctic with other countries. I am now working on my next rotation within NRCAN.My recent work focused on analyzing the mining industry and providing strategic industry insights to the department on issues related to the minerals and metals industry. This included preparing analysis on mining industry activities and trends, commodity markets, global supply chains, resource security and environmental impacts. I also engaged with industry stakeholders such as mining companies through online resources and advise the department on issues relating to the mining industries, and supported the development of policies and regulations for the minerals and metals industry. The experience of working in this department in the last one year has given me a good knowledge of current and emerging issues in the natural resources sector and knowledge of policy development, planning and decision-making process. Specific accountabilities and projects that I recently worked on were• Updating the critical minerals profiles for the Provinces of Canada.• Prepare newsbit articles on high profile updates in the sector and distribute the articles to management for their awareness.• Update the competitiveness analysis profile for Rare Earth Elements for various countries through qualitative research and analysis methods using S&P Global, WoodMac Information Portal and other Government websites.• Update the semiconductors mineral fact sheets with latest information using USGS databases, TRAGS, and WoodMackenzie databases.The above tasks cover economic analysis, strategic projects and general economic/policy requests.Here I learnt and demonstrated many competencies including Horizontality, Strategic/Critical thinking, Initiative, Integration and Judgement to name a few.
