About Karla Mondragón
As a first-generation Latina from East Side San Jose, I have dedicated my career to driving equity, leadership development, and workforce advancement for underrepresented communities. With a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Legal Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz, I have combined my passion for social impact with strategic program management, talent development, and community engagement to create meaningful pathways for diverse talent in the workplace.Currently, I lead the Latinos in Technology Initiative and the Latino Board Leadership Academy at the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley (HFSV), where I manage large-scale programs focused on leadership development, career readiness, and professional networking. I play a pivotal role in cultivating a strong talent pipeline of Latinx STEM students into the tech industry and increasing Latino representation on nonprofit boards. My work involves: Talent Pipeline Development – Designing and executing programs that connect diverse college talent with career opportunities in tech. Recruiting & Employer Partnerships – Collaborating with hiring managers, DEI teams, and ERGs to build inclusive talent strategies. People Operations & HR Strategy – Managing program operations, alumni engagement, and leadership development initiatives that enhance career growth. Data-Driven Decision Making – Leveraging data insights to improve engagement, retention, and career mobility for diverse professionals.Beyond my professional work, I have been actively involved in leadership programs, including Engaged Latina Leadership Activist (ELLA) with the Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley, a network focused on empowering Latinas through civic engagement and professional development.I am eager to transition into the tech industry in People Operations, Recruiting, or HR, where I can leverage my expertise in talent development, DEI strategy, and leadership cultivation to create more inclusive and thriving workplaces. Let’s connect! I’m always open to conversations about workforce diversity, leadership, and the future of talent in tech. In my free time, I enjoy food blogging, traveling, exploring art and fashion, yoga, and discovering new restaurants.
