ABOUT KARL. STEPHENS
I currently work as a Cloud Solutions Architect at CDW UK an IT Solutions provider. In this role I work with Sales teams and customers to help define their cloud strategy and help them understand what the estimated running costs will look like, and what level of effort is required. From this i will then help architect the Azure platformonce this is completed it will then move over to one of our delivery teams I previously worked a infrastructure consultant for lima networks. I have had the opportunity in this role to advance from on-site engineer resolving 1st line issues all the way to my current responsibilities which centre around enterprise infrastructure systems. I have a good deal of experience with NetApp storage systems, VMware vSphere and a number of Microsoft products including office 365. Prior to my role at LIMA Networks I worked as a Royal Signals Electrician for the UK Army, this role involved travelling to sites and setting up the necessary electrical equipment both for permanent and temporary bases. I hold a number of industry recognised certifications, my areas of interest going forward are Core infrastructure and cloud services. I\'m always open to reconnecting with old colleagues and like-minded individuals in the industry so feel free to send a connection request. Royal Corps of SignalsMy role as a Royal Signals Engineer involved the upkeep and maintenance of electrical equipment along with the setup of the necessary electrical equipment including high output generators for both temporary and permanent locations. This included setup for numerous combat exercises across Europe working with and in active zones such as Afghanistan these installations could range from as small as a single tent all the way up to a multi-building complex. In this role I was also required to plan the large scale setups and also manage multiple teams that would then go out and do the deployments with me. In this role a learnt a number of skills such as the importance of persistence to resolve problems working in a large team where communication was key and the ability to adapt was crucial. It also taught me to be organised efficient and committed. I left this role to change careers and move towards IT where I have a keen interest.
