ResponsibilitiesKarl oversees Organizational Health for the Enterprise, leads the Company’s People Analytics team, and is the HR Business Partner to the Transformation Management Office. Our transformation, Fresh Forward, describes how we operate going forward, with rigorous structure and governance, designed to deliver on our goals with greater speed, performance, and accountability.ExperienceKarl joined Kroger in 1987 as a clerk in the Cincinnati/Dayton Division. In 1992, he entered the store management training program. Since then, he has served in several leadership roles in both operations and merchandising at the division and at the General Office, including store management, purchasing manager, field merchandiser, category manager, sales plan coordinator, merchandiser and operations coordinator. In 2010, Karl was promoted to serve as head of prepaid/gift card services for Kroger Personal Finance. In 2012, Karl was promoted to the Director of Strategy Integration to manage the overall process and integration of the company’s strategic initiatives. In 2016, Karl was promoted to Vice President of Freshness & Standards to oversee the development of operational standards and process improvement within Retail Operations. In 2018, he was promoted to the Vice President of Our Promise, where he oversaw the communication, training and integration of Customer 1st Promise, which is a core pillar of Kroger’s business strategy that describes our commitment to foster a stronger emotional connection with our customers and our associates. He was later promoted to his current role in 2020.
