ABOUT KARI QUAAS

Travel and the service of others have always been interests so it’s not surprising that my path has been a mixture of both. In my personal life, I have always been a champion of the environment and my community. My hospitality career began when I drove tour bus in Seattle, and finished when I was the Assistant Manager of Human Resources & Benefits supporting both Alaska and Washington operations. Throughout that time, positions held were in safety, training, recruiting, employee relations, and benefits administration including workers compensation, ADA, FMLA and investigating harassment claims. I became a certified human resources professional in 2002.For nearly 10 years, I was a key member of the virtual team at CoolWorks.com, an employment site for jobs in great places, including ski resorts, ranches, outdoor adventures, camps, tour and transportation companies. I marketed my clients\' jobs, provided HR guidance, and I sold and administered the CoolWorks branded applicant tracking system (ATS) called Staffing Center. On the flip side, I guided, educated and encouraged job seekers interested in the seasonal lifestyle, and arranged meetups in National Parks. I am proud of the community I cultivated during this time.In the spirit of giving back to others for the gifts I have received, I have contributed my time, talents and treasure to a number of service organizations including Washington Business Week, BloodWorks Northwest, iDiOM Theater, Everett Animal Shelter, the Evergreen Chapter of the ALS Association, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (OSLC), Northwest Everett Neighborhood Association, and Everett\'s first (voting) Districting Commission. I served on the Sno-Isle Food Co-op Board, and now serve on OSLC\'s Council, as Treasurer of Northwest, and a local Rotary member.Since the age of nine, I have been a fan of photography. Always a hobby, it became a creative side business and I have done pet, personal, and family portraits, family and community event photography, art showcases, and daily sunset shots as @EverettSunsets.I loved blending this experience into promoting conservation efforts at Snohomish Conservation District, and now cultural arts with the City of Everett. I feel blessed to champion my personal causes.
