About Karina Kumari

As a student at Hofstra University majoring in International Business, pursing my BBA, I’ve cultivated a strong foundation in global strategy, cultural awareness, and leadership—skills I continue to strengthen through hands-on experience across legal, entrepreneurial, and retail environments. Through internships with Chugh LLP and TiE New Jersey, I’ve developed core competencies in legal research, policy analysis, communication, and professional writing. Working in fast-paced, mission-driven environments has sharpened my ability to think critically, manage projects, and adapt across teams with diverse goals and backgrounds. These roles have also deepened my understanding of how law and business intersect on both a local and international scale. As the Retail Manager of my family business, Suhag Jewelers, I’ve gained firsthand experience in customer service, team coordination, inventory management, and digital marketing. Balancing this role alongside my academic and internship responsibilities has taught me discipline, time management, and how to lead with both efficiency and empathy. I’ve also worked in global virtual teams through the X-Culture program, where I strengthened my collaboration, problem-solving, and cross-cultural communication skills—traits I value deeply as someone fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. With every experience, I continue building toward a career that merges my passions for law, business, and global impact.

Experience

  1. Legal Intern

    Chugh, LLP

    Jun 2025 — Present · NJ, US

As a Legal Intern at Chugh LLP, a full-service law firm specializing in immigration, corporate law, litigation, tax, and compliance, I support attorneys by conducting in-depth legal research and assisting with both client-facing and internal projects. I’ve conducted research on various types of visas, including employment-based and family-based immigration options, to support client casework and legal strategy. In addition, I’ve researched state and federal legal matters, including divorce law, pay transparency regulations, and executive orders related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). I authored and published a Client Alert on New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Law, which was distributed to firm clients. I also helped prepare presentation materials for internal end-of-month legal briefings and contributed to DEI-focused initiatives. Additionally, I implemented a program that allows interns to observe live court proceedings at the Superior Court of New Jersey, helping bridge academic knowledge with practical experience. Working under the mentorship of various Partners, I’ve gained hands-on exposure to various areas of law and strengthened my understanding of how legal research and policy intersect in a professional setting.
