ABOUT KARI SCHMIDT NORTON

As a Worksite Wellness Program Coordinator at Utah County Government, I have been leading and managing the employee wellness program for over 900 staff members since 2011. I hold a Master\'s Degree in Public Administration and certifications as a Health Education Specialist and a Worksite Wellness Specialist. My mission is to create a healthier and happier workplace culture by promoting physical activity, nutrition, and well-being among our employees. In my current role, I have successfully restructured the wellness program, increasing the participation rate from 242 to 766 and the compliance rate from 85% to 98% in three years. I have also implemented an employee wellness committee, planned and organized various wellness events and activities, and monitored and evaluated the program outcomes and impact. Thanks to these efforts, our organization has received 16 healthy worksite awards from local and national organizations. I have also leveraged my experience and expertise in health education to work on various public health projects and initiatives in areas such as tobacco prevention, chronic disease prevention, emergency preparedness, and injury prevention. I am passionate about improving the health and quality of life of our community and our workforce.
