ABOUT KAREN WERGER
I am driven by a deep commitment to building enduring value for future generations, whether through board leadership, executive roles, or community engagement. I believe that successful governance is not only about oversight but about enabling purposeful innovation, empowering future leaders, and stewarding trust across stakeholders. As a Board Member and Co-Leader of Deloitte Canada’s Legal Executive Program, I bring a strategic lens to the intersection of legal risk, governance, and business transformation. I advise boards, law firms, and general counsel as they navigate complex reputational, financial, and regulatory landscapes, helping shape resilient, future-ready organizations across Canada and globally. In my global role as Leader of Deloitte Consulting’s People and Purpose portfolio, I work closely with executive leadership to guide the firm’s response to transformational issues including generative AI, leadership development, equity, talent strategy, and organizational well-being. My approach is rooted in enabling bold, ethical, and human-centered leadership at scale. I am especially proud to have founded the Deloitte Women’s Impact Network and served as Dean of Deloitte University North, both of which reflect my long-standing commitment to cultivating inclusive, high-performing cultures and advancing equity in leadership. Governance and service are deeply personal to me. As the daughter of immigrant parents, I was raised to understand the power of community and the importance of giving back. I currently serve on the Board of the North York General Hospital Foundation and have held past board roles with the Baycrest Foundation and the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic. My family and I are active supporters of organizations such as Cystic Fibrosis Canada and the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, and I have had the honour of co-chairing major philanthropic events including the JNF Negev Dinner and the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers. In 2024, I was recognized with the ALM Top Consultants Award for Excellence in Leadership and in 2016, I was named one of WXN’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women. These recognitions affirm my ongoing commitment to values-based leadership, impact, and excellence. I welcome meaningful dialogue with professionals and peers who share a vision for elevating governance, purpose-driven growth, and community prosperity.
