About Karen Wee

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW - VA, DC & MD) who works as a Medical Social Worker in a hospital setting and as a Mental Health Therapist in a group practice. I work with individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds to overcome depression, anxiety, life transitions, health changes, grief, family conflict, domestic violence, and trauma to build fulfilling lives. My preferred modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Strengths-Based, Person-Centered, and Narrative Therapy. I graduated with a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Gender Violence Intervention Certificate from L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs on August 20, 2022. I completed my clinical internship at The Women\'s Center on August 31, 2022.

   Provide trauma-informed and culturally sensitive psychotherapy services to individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment to life transitions, grief, and intimate partner violence. Sessions are conducted in-person and via telehealth.• Use evidence-based interventions including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based CBT, narrative therapy, strengths-based approach, and motivational interviewing.• Conduct biopsychosocial mental health assessments, mental status examinations, diagnostic assessments using the DSM-5-TR, crisis stabilization, develop and review treatment and safety plans, provide psychoeducation, and write discharge summaries.
