ABOUT KAREN MARTIN

I know that a job is what you make it. You get out what you put in. No matter what the task is at hand, I get immense satisfaction out of knowing that I did a good job and gave it everything I could. Malcolm Gladwell stated that with hours practice, you can learn any skill. I am a very strong believer in this principle. Therefore I know I can accomplish anything. It\'ll just take some time. When I joined my first development team over 14 years ago it was only a handful of individuals. I knew I would have to wear many hats in order to meet deadlines and see the project to completion. As the team grew, I passed my knowledge on to junior members and would always support them with anything they needed. I have experience as a Productivity Programme Manager, Business Analyst, Scrum Master and Delivery Manager. I am a quick learner and problem solver, and although I have listed titles above, I tend to think of what is needed to get value to the customer and what shape I need to take in order to achieve this.In my current role I am responsible for empowering teams and the organisation with both quantitative and qualitative date to see if there are any improvements or blockers that prevent us from working optimally. I’m passionate about process, creating an empowering culture for my team, failing fast and ensuring we have psychological safety to support each other. Previously I managed a team of 16 Business Analysts. This was a department I grew and shaped, creating best practice for hiring, onboarding and personal development.I have acted as a scrum master and agile coach for three organisations across nearly 100 teams, and have a vast wealth of knowledge on the best way to work together in a collaborative way.Specialties: Agile Coaching, Productivity, AI Tooling, DORA metrics, Business Analysis, Web Development, App Development, Scorecard Implementation, Scrum/Kanban Methods.
