ABOUT KAREN MCGREGOR

I am a commercial and entrepreneurial business leader who excels at relationship marketing, strategic route to market development and the negotiation, management and profit maximisation of contracts. Rigorously customer focused, I am an adept manager of stakeholders, from local communities to national governments. Appointed Business Development Director at David MacBrayne Ltd in Oct 2017. Previously the CEO of First Port, a business incubator, delivering the Scottish Government’s objectives for new companies focussed on social and economic objectives. My achievements have included: • Creating a funding network of decision makers to fuel First Port’s strategy, including the “Business Angel” community. • Delivering a business culture change that emphasised commercial decision making and the cold, rigorous analysis of quantitative data to manage performance and identify opportunities. • Rebranding First Port so its “look” reflected its ambitions, delivering significant coverage in both traditional and social media, resulting in raised staff and stakeholder expectations. • As a Non-Executive Director, planning the recruitment of a new Chief Executive as a member of the Human Resources Committee. I am keen to see First Port continue to make a significant contribution to Scotland by supporting even more innovators and entrepreneurs.
